But then I drifted away and despite a few attempts to return I really do not have the time or the energy to do so. My best and only friend in SL left and I find it hard to make new friends, and when ever I journey to New Babbage I find it devoid of life. It is lovely but empty. I miss those first days a lot. I do not even have anyone to link to from this journal, it simply floats, adrift, in a sea of nothingness and no one sees it nor comments, nor knows of its existence. Oh dear, how self pitying and self indulgent I sound. perhaps I should simply stop wallowing and go and find someone to talk to!

Shipwrecked

Well things have certainly taken a turn for the interesting. There I was with my aether vessel all ready for launching, I had planned bunting and perhaps some tea and sandwiches with freinds before I departed New Babbage. It was all going to be terribly civilised and quite triumphalist really. Then one day while I was putting a few finishing touches to the cavorite-aether-repulsor engines I tweaked the wrong valve! The whole thing went off, I fell and hit my head, and therefore was not on hand to manage either a safe return or even a civilised attempt at piloting.
The next thing I knew I was waking up in a strange forest land with only the wreckage of my lovely aether vessel for company. I had not even had time for a naming ceremony for the poor vessel, the 'Intrepid' she was meant to be.
Well, this not being the first time I have been shipwrecked in a strange land so I quickly found myself a nice cave in which to shelter, salvaged what I could from the Intrepid, and now find myself stranded in an unknown place with little to do but tinker.
My hope is that I shall be able to get the rotary flying vehical I salvaged from the wreck to work, then I may explore. Perhaps later a small capsule may be built with which to return to New Babbage, or at least visit the dear place. I can't seem to stay away too long.
Well, the steam pressure is running low on the tele-scripter and I cannot continue to broadcast for a while. So I shall say goodbye for now and I hope to be able to make contact again soon.

AWOL

Well it would appear that my predictions of not being around much were, if anything, greatly short of the mark. I have hardly touched SL in weeks due to RL issues, which are not a problem, just meant I have to re-organise my time. In theory I should have more time now, however I have some things I need to catch up on so they are taking up said extra time *sigh* I need to organise!

I have been on long enough to build myself a fine example of a flying machine, my best yet.
However I have yet to find a decent flying script to get the thing off the ground. Once I have that done I can see about getting my shop up and running, yes my inventions are finally reaching a standard I would not be embarrassed to sell. I hope to add more soon. I lack a few textures though, and need to try and learn to script a little more. There is always one more thing is there not?

I have received a cryptic IM from someone I do not know, regarding Lolita. I have not had time to get into SL to answer it though. Part of me wonders if Lolly has found herself a new mother who is not absent all the time. I shall have to see. Maybe she would be better of with someone else. Maybe she is just getting into trouble, again? who knows...

Well I must go, analytical engine essays do not write themselves, especially overdue examples of that ill favoured document. I hope to see people soon.

The Pace of Change

Well, don't things change fast. New Babbage has officially opened, there was a fine party attended by many of the residents and dignitaries thereof. I have managed to adopt the little lady Lolita, whom I shall post specifically about later, and my good friend Bailey [who is also Lolita's Aunt] is having a tumultuous time which I dearly hope she comes through intact and whole.
I have managed to obtain and operate both an elevator, which I have installed in my town house thus removing the need for cumbersome and technologically backwards staircases, and also a free script for the locomotion of vehicles. Thus far I have made a toy train for Lolita, which she can ride upon, and a very rough model of a traction engine. Both drive but in a manner not entirely to my liking so I shall be tinkering with the respective engines to gain a superior level of operation. The wooden toy train I threw together in a moment of invention inspired by the sudden onset of motherly feelings and I am quite, quite happy with it. Apart from the slightly wayward engine characteristics I feel it is entirely saleable, my first creation of that standard. The traction engine will require a lot of work however.
These are mostly good things, I can only trust in the future that my dear Bailey comes through her trials, I believe she feels there is a light at the end of the tunnel, I only hope for her sake it is not another train! she has had quite enough trouble for the time being and my heart goes out to her.
For my own part I have had certrain things pointed out to me, and I find I must curtail my time in SL somewhat as it has grown beyond the boundaries I originally envisioned for it. In short my RL has suffered, and to a great degree. If I am to preserve what I cherish in one realm, I must spend less time in the other, and this I do willingly. For my new dear daughter I must apologise, I will not be there for you as often I first assumed. For dear Bailey, I am sorry also for not being able to be there to lend you my support when you need it. Perhaps if I had been there more recently things would not have gone so awry for you. Perhaps if I listened more and spouted less homegrown philosophy things may have been different.
I do not know what the future may hold, but I am a firm believer in the Future and so we march boldly on in a spirit of adventure and optimism, for the Past is done with and should not hold us back, the Present is mercurial and quickly slips by, yet the Future lies always ahead, with a promise of a better world, a better self.

Hello to the Aethers

Greetings to anyone out there silly enough to be using their precious time to peruse these writings. I doubt very much whether I shall have time to write too much as my time is limited and there is just so much to do. However I am following in a good friend's footsteps and placing my Second Life self under your worthy scrutiny for as long as you wish to remain observant.
My name is Moss Weyland, I am a resident of Second Life and the sim known as Babbage Square, the heart of what we call New Babbage, therein. Any other life I may have outside the realms of Second Life is strictly beyond the bounds of this Chronicle, and shall remain so, for no other reason than that is how I wish it. Moss Weyland deserves a life of her own and so it shall be.
In short I am a Victorian Steampunk Inventress and personage in search of mystery and a little adventure. I also have, at times, a most Jekyl l and Hyde like side to myself which tends to dress up in Gothic fashion and show quite a reckless disregard for the proper Victorian ways of presenting oneself. I am not entirely sure I approve of the Lady but after one of my past experiments went decidedly wrong she quite definately does not plan on making any departures. So there you have it, two sides of the same coin, both Moss.
Since I began my explorations of Second Life I have met many people, some of whom I have even spoken to, I am not good at such things. Some remained friends, one especially I regard as my very dearest friend in 'SL' and she is Bailey Toland. I shall place a link to her own journal once I have determined the correct method.
There I shall leave this current, and first, entry into my Chronicles, may there be many to follow.
